Additionally, the advancement of Generative AI (ChatGPT) has dominated much of this year and is already significantly evolving how people search.
We have always focused on forward-thinking efforts, i.e., Mobile Friendly, Micro Meta Data, and Voice Search, but this is different. For the 1st time in over 20 years, Google is not dictating how things change. Instead, they are solely focused on how they can stay relevant.
This means there is no roadmap to follow to be successful; instead, it will come down to strategy, agility, and, yes, some luck.
What we know:
- We know Microsoft Owns OpenAI (ChatGPT) as well as LinkedIn. This tells us that OpenAI will always have access to that data set for possible responses. Whether or not brands are on LinkedIn now affects a portion of how well you show up in some Search Channels.
- While Microsoft is the clear winner of Generative AI this year, Amazon, Google, and several others are dedicating a LOT of energy & money to catching up.
- Google WILL most likely update its algorithm to not only ignore but penalize sites that copy and paste straight from AI Sources like ChatGPT.
- Many people have switched to Generative AI Sources (like ChatGPT or Bing Search, which has ChatGPT built-in) for their search needs. This could hold steady, continue to grow, or decline throughout the next year. We are expecting to see it continue to grow as OpenAI releases more features.
